The old and the new...

So I was looking through my photo files today to make a calendar for my office...a little late but I felt like doing it now I have a few days off to re-connect with the creative...it was good looking through 2012...some of the images had almost been forgotten and the first half of the year seems like such a long time ago! I thought I'd share a few of my favourite images from 2012 before moving forward into 2013...

Lots of textures being tested in January :)

I enjoy making painterly textures...

Using plain light backgrounds is best for texture use so they show up...

One of the first pictures in the spring sunshine...glorious!

I was obsessed with Ranunculas in the spring...beautiful flowers...

A macro Narcissus bringing some much needed colour in the spring...

I used my texture "Kiss and Tell" here...

One of the first pics of Izzy in May...

Using coloured mounting board for backgrounds for some still life...

My love of Roses grows each year...

One of my last blooms in the Autumn...

Looking for the last flowers, I was pleased to find these...

Izzy begins to settle in...

Taking flight into art again...

One of my first paintings for nearly 20 years...

Testing out some photoshop actions I made to complement my textures...

Turns out Izzy feels the cold and loves wearing these pj's!

I had intended to devote this post to my word for 2013...I started having a word for the year a few years ago...I find it focuses me and gives me something positive to think about, like a mantra...setting intentions is a common practise this time of year but I find that keeping things simple and really spending some time considering what I want to achieve in the coming months really is a good practise, and having a general but steady intention for the year can shape our choices in subtle and more tangible ways too...more on that next time as I wanted to say goodbye and thank you to 2012 today...it's been a big year of positive change for me and I'm so looking forward to 2013 because of it!

Thank you for stopping by...here's wishing you a very happy, healthy and creative 2013...I look forward to enjoying all your creativity throughout the year once again :)

It is so hard to choose a favorite, especially with sweet Izzy included amongst these, but I think my favorite is the first one.
    It is truly magical.

  11. Your photos are stunning, soft and dream-like! I find that as I age, I prefer most visuals not to hit me in the face, but to summon me to the object of my vision.
I am definitely a fan of yours now.
BTW, your name (Ruth) is my middle name. I like that!
