As another week flies by, I find myself rummaging at the back of the wardrobes and cupboards for warmer attire...I was sure glad to have received Izzy's new jumper last week! She is getting used to her first winter warmer and seems to appreciate it already...luckily she hasn't had to use it yet...but today, here in the UK, there is a cold snap in the air, the sun is shining but my mind is on lighting the fire!
I do so love the colours of this time of year though, the dusky blends of pinks, purples, reds and browns, sometimes unlikely colour pairings and yet perfect at the same time...above is one of my Japanese Anenome, the pattern and colours from behind it caught my eye...
'Sweet Freedom' 8" x 8" deep edge canvas
In the kitchen art studio this week...I was pleased to complete another girlie painting, as I build up my stash of materials, I'm trying new things, this one is more of a painting, with only one piece of paper added for her dress, plus the embellishments of course!
The way her face turned out inspired the choice of words for this painting...a dreamy gaze to a far away place...I decided to emphasise it a little more by leaving her face and hair a little faded too, she's here but also somewhere else in her heart...
My girlie paintings feel very close to my heart and I again feel a little exposed sharing her, although I feel very safe sharing with my kind and supportive tribe of visitors (thank you so so much!) there is clearly a part of me inside that feels nervous with sharing more personal creations...but I'm doing it anyway :) ♥
Izzy trying her new jumper on for size ♥
Below is a heart I made last week but it hasn't got a home yet...I placed it on another canvas I'm working on and thought I'd take a picture...I've been cutting up old books (not the important ones, I did have some resistance to it at first but I've got past that now!) and finding good words to use in the paintings, the ones I used on this heart include the things that are close to my heart ♥ it will find it's place somewhere, I'm sure. I notice that I do feel guided in my work but sometimes there is a different pattern unfolding than the one I had in mind! That's life isn't it! At least, that's how it is for me, things always do work out... just sometimes in a different (often better) way than I first imagined it...am I making any sense? :)
I hope you have a great weekend and that you are keeping warm and snug...unless of course you are lucky to be living somewhere that is hot at the moment! Keep up the wonderful creative work I keep seeing ♥

Deleteso beautiful artworks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art and cute dog :)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for all of us that you push past your reticence to share your more personal work. It is a delight to view and truly inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI remember the mock horror people displayed when I decided to cut up a Klimt artbook that was worn and falling apart. I used pieces of the images for collages, and they are some of my most treasured pieces. Part of being an artist, I think, is to use unexpected materials - or common ones in new ways.
Thank you so much for sharing your multiple talents with Photo Art Friday, Ruth.
That is what I love about art....what you start with is never what is the final creation...it is amazing how that happens...it is all about the process with art. I really love your "girlie" painting...it does reflect a lot of what I have imagined you to be like...glad you are sharing...it is very beautiful in its simplicity. I was apprehensive about the book thing also...but when it is a very old ten cent book from the thrift store that probably no one will ever buy....I pick it up and don't feel bad. Love the jumper on your cutie pie!!!
ReplyDeleteRuth, your art is wonderful. I've enjoyed your photography, but it's great to see these great art pieces too! And Izzy...how adorable is she!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I'm enjoying both the photography and the art too :)
DeleteYour work is beautiful and I'm so glad you shared it...and yes, it makes complete sense how our creative works often go in a different direction than what we had planned in our head. It makes it fun and interesting to just surrender to that process, doesn't it? As always, sweet Izzy is adorable! Have a wonderful weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteI love all three of your art pieces.
ReplyDeleteIzzy's stylin' in that purple jumper!
I love your creations, they are beautiful! And it looks like your pup is ready for the cooler weather!

ReplyDeleteYou have been so creative, great picture and lovely paintings. Here in Finland starting to be quite dark and it is raining all time. Thank goodness I got firewoods few days ago so I can burn fire.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Ruth, these are wonderful. And I know what you mean by sharing personal things! but you know what it is worth it sometimes because you don't know how many times somebody looks at your painting and think "man, this is truly how I feel. It's like "looking" at my own emotions, feelings". It helps not only you but for some who read and look at your posts!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I hope one day I will be able to do that for my visitors ♥
Deletelove what you are doing. :)
ReplyDeleteWow your floral piece is just amazing. I love the lighting in it and how you focused on the back of the flower (I should try that once in awhile).
ReplyDeleteGreat piece for PAF too. Lots of wonderful detail and texture. She's very sweet looking.
And then there is Izzy all snug and adorable in that jumper. Just precious.
Wonderful! Love the painting and Izzy's jumper!
ReplyDeleteI love it all, too, and love some of the others' comments. Such a generous group, or "tribe" surrounding us, eh?! I'm finding myself daring to explore and sometimes just follow something that makes little sense to me at the time and then, later, I find the connections that seem to me so, Of Course!!! However, I still feel often uncertain. Today I posted a painting of mine that is in progress, in about its 11th incarnation. I have never EVER done that, so it is exciting more than scary.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I loved this visit and always DO. It's always something and always refreshing. [p.s. sending you some "too warm for October" from South Florida]
Oh, yes please Currie, the warmer the better, my fingers are freezing! ♥
DeleteI do understand your fear about sharing something dear to your heart. I go through those moments as well whenever there is a picture of something very personal I am about to publish on my blog.
ReplyDeleteYour art is wonderful and I believe it inspire many people! Keep up that good work!

Enchanted girlie painting...
I love the heart and can't seem to separate it from the canvas behind it. In my eye they 'fit'. The color palette of the canvas is lovely.

Temps here are cooler with frost expected so I too am looking out my window at a deceptive sunshiney day.
Thank you Carletta, I hope it warms up for you :)
