Brave Girl...

You may think I'm talking about a painting title but I'm not...I was a very brave girl yesterday and had a tooth removed! EEK! All is healing well and the dentist and his assistant could not have been nicer to me...so I prepared some photo's in advance this week and have the day off today to rest...well, I may be starting another painting but that's a very good healing pastime for me...

'Taking Flight'

'Learning to enjoy life'
12" x 16" mixed media on canvas

Above is the painting I finished earlier this week, she came out rather posh! I scanned her in but it doesn't show the sparkly hair clip or the golds and dusky blues off as well as I'd hoped...it's such a grey day here ( I think I say this most week's!) so the photo's I took were too dull to use...I think my watching  a favourite show of ours 'Downton Abbey' may have had an influence on this picture! I love  those old fashioned colour combinations in the rooms, just stunning...

'Heavenly Scented Rose'

Get in close and have a deep sniff of this rose! Another picture from our beloved Godinton House rose garden, where the roses are very old and repeat flower for months and smell heavenly! We hope to go back there this weekend weather permitting...sadly all the lovely gardens we visit tend to close at the end of October so we'll try to fit in a last couple of outings by then...

"Wow, that's the best stick EVER!"

Izzy decided to help take off a few dead apple branches at my mum's a few weeks ago...Patrick's on the other end! My mum has a very neat garden and you can see all her lovely tomatoes growing in the greenhouse...we have a much more 'rural' garden...we're going for the natural look this year!

Wishing you a lovely weekend and positive week ahead...

  9. That butterfly is gorgeous and so wonderful in black and white, love the scented rose too! As for your tooth, oh I feel for you. I had to have one removed too (that had had two root canals previously) and it took two dentists, 3 hygeniest, five shots and 3 hours to finally get it out!!!!! He said in all his 30 years of practice I was in his top 5 most difficult to remove, boo! Hope it's feeling better really soon!
