The most precious things of all usually do not have much to do with money...they are sometimes brief cherished moments shared with those who we feel are our kindred spirits, the ones who 'get us' and who accept us...those precious, precious ones, who sometimes challenge us or show us a different way of seeing things and who ultimately love us anyway despite out imperfections...perhaps it's those imperfections that make us loveable? I certainly hope so :)
'Best Friendship' 8" x 8" mixed media canvas
I really enjoyed making this painting...I'm finding a voice that has been long buried under everyday life that is now talking to me through the paint...does that sound weird? I know those of you that create in a personal way will 'get me' when I say this, it's a mixed time of exploration, healing and experimenting and I've chosen to share it publicly here on my blog...every year that goes by reveals another piece of the creative puzzle, photography, texture making and now painting, the original medium I used to work in...I'd spend all my spare time painting as a child, teen and young adult...I feel deep appreciation that I now have the time, space and those magic ingredients that make us take steps, reclaim, or make changes that bring us back to ourselves again ♥ I scanned the picture this time, it's a little lighter here than in person but you get the idea...
Best friends come in all shapes and sizes don't they? Here's my latest snap of Izzy with me risking
Pom Pom Dahlia
Some of the last flowers of the season are looking so beautiful at the moment here, the Dahlias are amazing in their array of patterns, shapes and colours, they're so interesting...how are your flowers doing? We have some roses that are still going, last year they flowered until Christmas, which was lovely...cheering up the garden with their seasonal reds and greens, when everything else was asleep...
I do hope you have a wonderful weekend and a great week too, I look forward to seeing what you've been up to :)

Ruth - you and I are kindred spirits in that we share our feelings in our art. Most of my quilts are autobiographical. No one else may "get it", but I get my "junk" out that way and feel the better for it.
ReplyDeleteI love your little paintings. I work large. It's difficult for me to think and work small. Your style is delightful!
Thanks Pat, definitely kindreds :) I used to work large, 6 foot by 4 foot when I had a studio but now I just have a small kitchen table!!
DeleteYour painting is so cute and I like your philosophy about freiedship too.
ReplyDeleteAs for our shot of the Dahlia - it's lovely!
Your talent is really....beyond my scope of words☺ You have been given a gift not many have. Izzy well just love your furry girl!!!!

ReplyDeleteRuth i love what you have shared here with your art. Isn't art a wonderful way to better know yourself and express who you are. Love this canvas that you did. Also such a cute photo of izzy! Made me laugh about how everyting is destuffed.... I have a yorkie that is just like that and we have often come in to a room that looks as if it has snowed! Such fun these lovely fur friends. Also think your photo of this dahlia is totally amazing. Love how softly you have captured that! Also want to thank you so much for all of your encouraging messages about my neice! I so appreciate it. Am just now sort of "getting back" mentally, as this has been a bit of a traumatic occurrence. hugs to you and thank you again!!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a difficult time for you Jeanne, I'm glad to have you back :)thank you for your encouragement too!

So tender, Ruth....beautiful work! And that dahlia is fabulous. When I see images such as this, I think I should try some dahlias next year.
ReplyDeleteThanks Evelyn, I do love Dahlias and with luck they come up each year, so a good investment :)
DeleteThe dahlia is stunning in its beauty! And I love the shot of your Izzy. You captured her charm and sparkle. I'm glad to hear how much you are enjoying your art. You are certainly talented!
ReplyDeletewonderful images
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your characters on show again - you've artfully avoided the cloying cuteness that befalls this subject and made their friendship one of true closeness. Izzy must be the inspiration behind it all
ReplyDeleteThank you Eljaygee, I appreciate your input :)
DeleteRuth, I love your friendship painting so much. What a wonderful talent you have. The Dahlia image takes my breath away.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely weekend, we have sunshine and blue skies over here in the west. Hoping you have too.
Thanks Miriam, we have sun at the moment but chilly!

DeleteRuth, this painting is wonderful! I truly adore your talent. You've got your own unique style, you know! it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Ewa :)
DeleteAs well as the evident artistry, there is such a purity and sweetness that shines through in all your creations, Ruth. Such a treat to have you share them with us at Photo Art Friday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie, that means a lot :)
DeleteBonnie just took the words out of my mouth as I was just thinking how absolutely "sweet" your painting was. It's very touching.
ReplyDeleteYour Dahlia photo is stunning.
Izzy is adorable. Our pug, Cricket chewed up all her toys and dog beds so she gets the flat toys too and an old sleeping bag to sleep on now because she just ripped up all her beds to shreds.
Ha! Naughty Cricket! They do like to chew don't they?!
DeleteI sit here and am just deeply impressed in my soul out of the beauty of your pictures! I wish you from my heart a loving weekend! Louise-Lotte
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, I appreciate your support deeply :)
DeleteVery impressing. Your both girls are lovely. And the fotos - the shining eye of Izzy and the pompoms - every pic is fine.
ReplyDeleteLG joelsuma
Beautiful images Ruth. Your comments about Izzy and her toys made me laugh. My dog is getting on in years (she's 16) so she doesn't chew anything anymore but we were there once too.
ReplyDeleteThoughtful and BEautifully done, Ruth. I canNOT imagine my Life without Gracie, nor can I actually BElieve that I get to share a Life with her. Friendship is only the tip of our iceberg...
ReplyDeleteYou have such an eye for the wonder. Brava!!!
Thank you Currie :)
DeleteI love your painting! Wonderful colors and details in your work! I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend:)
I definitely agree with you! Without our flaws, we would be hard people o relate to...making us hard to love. I am so blessed that I am imperfect for so many different reasons. Lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteI do understand your 'need' for artistic expression... it does release one's spirit... love that dahlia... SO gorgeous! Thank you so much Ruth, for sharing on 'Weekly Top Shot #52,' my meme's first anniversary!
ReplyDeleteRuth, how wonderful to be re-visiting an old love in your painting. Funny how life takes us in circles. I'm enjoying all that you do....so very creative!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anna ♥
Deletethat pink flower photo is so gorgeous
ReplyDeleteLove your work.
