I hope you have had a wonderful week? In between work, I have been painting again :) I'm being brave and sharing 2 of the most recent paintings with you...be kind...please! I've been enjoying some mixed media work and am learning as I go...please excuse the low quality photo's taken while there was some light yesterday afternoon...I'm hoping to scan or take better pics soon but you'll get the idea :)
'Wise Owl' 8"x8" mixed media on canvas
'Hopeful Girl' 8"x12" mixed media on canvas
I've never done people before, so this is only my second painting with a face, I hope to improve as I go along! As a texture lover, I enjoy finding different papers (and making some using my texture collections too!) and embellishments, ribbons, trim and buttons...anything is fair game in the house! I'm now working on a long landscape in purples, with some trees, I will share more soon...if you're kind to me :) It's funny but I feel rather nervous sharing my art, it's more personal for me than photography as it's coming out of me...I feel a little exposed! Eek!
Izzy pup having a snooze on the flower cushion yesterday :)
I used my texture 'Bramble' (Collection 2) and some selective colour adj. for a vintage look
These roses above are at Godinton House, a local gardens we love to visit...I have mentioned the rose garden before, it's full of the old fashioned varieties that have strong beautiful scents...sniffing and snapping...a glorious way to spend Sunday afternoon...here's hoping you have a lovely weekend ♥

I enjoyed looking at your work Ruth. I like your first mixed media best- it is very rich in tones and texture. And I feel like i want to touch it! It is such a varied collection too- the one with the girl is so soft and fragile- and then that fantastic dog with the bright colours! thank you for visiting - and I hope you will be back for Mandarin Orange Monday when it is open again on Sunday night:)
