Time for more learnin'!

So, I've been a bit quiet on the blogging front of late, I know...things are changing again...or still...in my creative world...in only the last 2 weeks, I have reclaimed my art in a way that has been buried for 20 years...painting...

Yes, I make textures and I love doing this...but for me, as an artist, they are like a beginning point for a picture, leaving room for the photograph to fill in the details and complete the work of art...they play a supporting and enhancing roll...there has been a part of me needing to do more, but it hasn't been there, it didn't work, I didn't have the space at home, it just wasn't happening...until 2 weeks ago...

In my last post, I had just cleared out a lot of cupboards, de-cluttered rooms and a big change occurred...I created a space to make art...and I'm loving it! I have completed two paintings already, and I am too nervous to share them here at the moment but I will...at some point. This is the current work in progress above, with a detailed picture below, I'm enjoying building up layers, using mixed media and finding new ways to make art after many years...

I find myself needing to learn more again, this time mixed media and painting, and I'm enjoying finding some great resources online and experimenting myself of course, which is the most fun of all :) I will be back to share more soon, in the meantime, most of my pics taken lately are of Izzy...surprise surprise!

And here's a Sunday snap I took of Izzy earlier this morning (it looks a bit blurry on the blog, sorry) snoozing on the end of the bed...a girl full of heart, love and fun! She's just getting better and better...training is coming slowly but surely and as she is trusting us more, her recall is really improving, she's realising that coming back to us when we call her is the best and safest option...it's something new for her to have people who love her...she is such a blessing ♥♥♥

  3. Oh please share them. I have never considered myself an artist but a few months ago I began experimenting with an art journal and I am loving it. Using a lot of mixed media and it is amazing how the very first page is so different from my current work. I love it. Looking forward to you sharing more about this journey.

  4. How thrilling. It's amazing what clearing out the clutter can do for our soul. I have lived in my home for over 12 years now - longest in any house during my life. I have never experienced the build-up of clutter and dust as I have here. I Hate It! After six years of letting things, for various reasons, I am in the process of brutal excavation! It has weighed me down long enough and I can't hide from it.
Now, about you getting back to your painting, congratulations! Exciting, and what a release. You have twenty years to get out onto the canvas. I just signed up for a class - Pixels and Paint. A starting point for me using my photography with my paints that I desperately want to learn to use. I love Mixed Media!

  6. So exciting for you to have an art space.
    That is perfect.
I so detest clutter; it just takes away freedom.
...and who wouldn't love an Izzy photo
    ...keep them coming.

  7. So sweet of you, to open your heart! :]
I find myself getting lost in my artful clutter sometimes, once I've opened up some space, I can breathe again... it allows for new inspiration.
    Your artwork looks lovely.
It is very inspiring to see, layers of texture and paint.
    Keep making art! ~xx
