Our garden...

As some of you know, we have a new member of the family, Izzy, a beautiful 1 year old Lurcher rescue...she's coming out of her shell a little more each day, trusting us a little more and finding her comfy places around the place. She's having a 'squirm up' on the rug behind me as I type, something she has only just started doing in the last 2 days or so...she plays when we aren't in the room now but does wag more and will occasionally even come up to us...yes, the people in her life before really did a number on her, poor thing, but we'll get her there...she can now go in the garden off lead and she's very good  following me about and flopping down next to me. (they can jump fences easily so we needed to wait until she was happy being here until giving her more freedom!)

She's now bathed and groomed and has her proper Lurcher collar and tag in place! We're having some amazing early morning walks and I'm seeing wild flowers opening as the warmer weather has come this last few days, I've yet to take the camera as we're still mastering some training so I know I'd just get all tangled up :) she's a real blessing, I'm so glad we found her and she does make me laugh every day!

I've been really enjoying the coverage of the Chelsea flower show this week, the planting and designs are wonderful, then I go out to our garden which has a decidedly rural 'au naturale' look about it and potter about, it has been lovely out there this week...above is one of my Columbines that are just flowering now, I do love the fairy flowers :)

  2. Izzy looks so sweet, but still has that look of "when is this going to come to an end look". Saw that for such a long time on my little rescue dog. Glad you are enjoying her, and know she is going to love being in her "forever home". Gorgeous flower by the way!

  11. Izzy is a lucky dog to have found you, and you her. Her name is endearing to me as my love of many years was Izzy, my little silky terrier.
Your flower image is gorgeous, love the softness and gentle light.
    Have a beautiful weekend.

  13. What a cute puppy Ruth! How nice for you both to be in each other's lives. I'm sure you will both have many wonderful times together. Our neighbor only has rescue pets and they are so patient with them to ease them into a new environment and help them feel safe and secure, as you are doing. I so love the colors on your columbine photo; it's a different variety than those I have. Yours hass more layers and petals and is gorgeous.

  14. What a fascinating face your special four legged companion has. I am baffled by the treatment of some animals. How could anyone be unkind to the wonderful creatures of this world? The columbine photo is a charmer, too!

  29. Izzy is beautiful after her bath. I'm so glad to hear she is settling in, though slowly. I love that you are giving her the time and space to adjust. The people that had her before and abused her - they will get theirs.
I love your columbine image, so dreamy.
Now, about the Chelsea garden show. The closest I get is my totally beloved English Garden magazine. I LOVE IT! My dream vacation is to tour the gardens in England and the lavender fields of Provence....

  34. Ruth it's so good that you found each other, you both need more time and everything will work fine. Someone said that we can't change the whole world but we can make the whole world will change for that animal we will rescue.
